Welcome,
Thank you for visiting us at the Blandford and Area Fire Rescue web site. We are very proud to serve the citizens of the various communities that make up the Fire Protection District.
Blandford and Area Fire Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization that provides service to most of District #1 of the Municipality of the District of Chester. Having been incorporated as a sub-station of the Hubbards Fire Department in 1965 we have provided fire and emergency services for over 45 years, since 1977 as an independent fire department.
Our station and training facilities are located at 30 Fire Hall Road in the community of Blandford. From here, we respond with two engines, a air and light support truck, a special operations trailer, a REHAB trailer and an inflatable boat to a wide variety of emergencies both in our own district and to surrounding communities with mutual aid.
With less than twenty responders we provide a professional response to fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle collisions, water and ice rescues and to spills of dangerous goods. In a typical year we respond to in excess of fifty calls for assistance.
In a typical year our members spend many hundreds of hours honing their skills learning how to be proficient with the state of the art equipment we provide for your safety and protection. Tuesday night you can find members completing truck checks prior to the commencement of training. If you would like to view the equipment we have available or just speak with our members this would be the best time to find us at the station. If you are interested in joining us please follow the links on our volunteering page to find out how you too can be one of us protecting our community.
Yours in safety,
Chris Turpin, Fire Chief
