Municipality of the District of Chester
Fire & Emergency Response

Our family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Richard Eldridge on Friday, November 29, 2019. We are comforted that he was surrounded by his comrades and sisters and are grateful that he passed peacefully in the presence of love. He will be deeply missed by wife, Mary; sister, Myrna; sister-in-law, Iva, and loving nieces and nephews. Richard has touched many lives in his family and community. He lived a full life and was so proud that he was able to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary with Mary, and his 80th birthday with family and friends. Richard’s accomplishments were as varied as he was himself. He was a professional sign painter for 41 years, and still made time to be an active volunteer for AEnon Baptist Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88, Chester Basin Fire Department, Shoreham Village, and many other causes and organizations. A true community patriarch. Over his lifetime, Richard received many awards recognizing his volunteerism.

Visitation will be held in Davis Funeral Home today, Tuesday, December 3rd, from 6-8 p.m. Celebration of Richard’s life will take place in AEnon Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 4th at 2 p.m. Fellowship to be held in the church hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to AEnon Baptist Church, Chester Basin Fire Hall, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88, or the charity of your choice.
